We asked Sam, Stylist & Display Designer for Citta Design, to talk to us about what she loves (and hides) in her own bedroom.

What is your favourite thing about your bedroom?
My new favourite thing is my headboard!  My Dad and I made it together over a weekend, we spent a lot of time picking out the very best piece of ply for it and the wood grain kind of looks like clouds which is cute!

What is never missing from your bedside table?
Magazines. There is always a pile of design and interior magazines for reading in bed on a lazy Sunday morning with a sneaky breakfast in bed.  I also have a piece of petrified wood which my Poppa polished and gave to me years ago, he was a rockhound (it’s a thing) and found it on one of his many trips to the Coromandel.  And, last thing, my Richard Parker ring dish.

Do you make your bed every morning?
Yes! How could you not?  Nothing worse than coming home to a messy bed.

Can you share a styling tip for the bedroom?
Keep it simple – when you chose just a few things you love, and don’t have any clutter it’s so much easier to keep things calm, even when it’s a bit messy.

What did you remove before you took these shots?
I took my mirror down, just because they are always a bit awkward in a photo.  So, next to my bed I have a mirror and make-up table.  That’s it though, not many secrets.
