How to : style weekend brunch
When winter draws in we turn inside, and savour the simple luxuries of home. After a long weekend lie-in, a decadent brunch is the ultimate weekend indulgence. Here are all the ingredients you need to style your brunch, so it looks as good as it tastes.
1 . Mix and match ceramics
Keep things elegant yet informal with mix and match ceramics. Mixing patterned with plain, but keeping consistency in style is the best approach for nailing this look. Our Talo ceramics come in a variety of pastel tones and pair perfectly with our Finch and printed ceramics. Try choosing a colour from your favourite patterned side plate or platter as an accent, and work the rest of your ceramics around this hero.
2. Varied heights
Use candles, cake plates and carafes to create a variety of heights and visual interest. Keep taller pieces towards the ends of the table when you have platters to pass around - this will help to avoid unwanted knocks and spills!
3. Fresh flowers
Adding fresh, leafy botanicals to the table helps to bring the outdoors in when it's chilly out there. Wrapping eucalyptus around plates or laying flowers on their side is a great alternative to a vase - especially when there's a lot to pass around the table.
4. Casually placed napkins
Avoid the formal napkin ring or folded triangle... Use napkins in a variety of different contexts when styling your table. Drape under plates or use as alternative place mats. Linen napkins are a stylist's best friend, chic with minimum effort.
5. Multi-purpose pieces
Wooden or marble serving boards can be used as alternative place settings. Use cake plates or platters for displaying candles or flower displays. Add pretty details such ribbons around cutlery for an alternative to the napkin rings - play around and have fun!
