How to : create a winter reading nook

How to : create a winter reading nook

Winter is the ideal time to hunker down in a comfy spot with a good book and cup of tea. Whether it's a small corner of your living room, or a spot by the window to synchronously watch the rainfall, we've got the way to create your very own cosy, reading nook.

1. Sit pretty

The foundation of your nook should consist of the perfect armchair. Our Fable Oak Armchairs are crafted in solid oak, with sumptuous padding and a back cushion to sink into. Offering a Danish inspired design and upholstered four durable fabric colorways to suit your space.

2. Select your side table

Next you will of course need resting spot for your tea and any snack items that may accompany it (cookies, cakes, pastries spring to mind). Depending on your personal style, you could opt for something classic such as our Tilt Side Table or for something more urban and geometric like our Linear Two Tier Side Table.

3. Accessorise

Now for our favourite part - selecting accessories that entice with their soft and cosy appeal and also offer comfort and style. Our plush Cotton Velvet Cushions are rich and tactile, while our Purl Knit Wool Throw or Twill Wool Throw will keep you snug. Add a scented candle, and set the scene for a relaxing few hours.

4. Soft underfoot

And last but not least, use a rug or mat to pull your nook together. It will not only frame your space but it will also keep your feet nice and warm especially if you've got hardwood or concrete floors. Our Fenris Rug provides a neutral aesthetic and delineates open spaces with effortless style or you can opt for our Lana Hand Tufted Rug, guaranteed to keep your toes warm during winter made with New Zealand Wool.
