Città at home: what we’re listening to right now
We’ve been tuning into a lot of albums, playlists, podcasts, and audiobooks lately. These have been enjoyed when working from home, on our daily walks, and when relaxing in our living spaces. There’s something special about filling your home with music and the simple joy this brings. We asked five of our team members to share their listening recommendations below.

Who are you isolating with & where?
I’m isolating with my family Megan, Sophie and Joe in Grey Lynn.
What are you currently listening to?
I’m a big fan of the Danger Mouse Jukebox playlist on Spotify that Nikolai put me onto. It constantly gets updated to keep it fresh. But, as good as Spotify is, you can’t beat listening to a full album, so I’ve been playing records first thing in the morning—much to my family’s elation.
What do you love about it?
I prefer the physical format of music because there’s still some personal curation going on. I also kind of like the interaction you have with the record and turntable as well. And being analogue means there’s the bonus of no bluetooth or wifi drop-outs!
You can listen to Danger Mouse Jukebox on Spotify.

Who are you isolating with & where?
I’m isolating with my wife Jo and our two kids Arie (3) and Pia (1) at our house on a farm out the back of Muriwai.
What are you currently listening to?
Apart from having the new Childish Gambino record on high rotation, I’m also listening to the podcast 99% Invisible.
What do you love about it?
I’ve been listening to 99% Invisible for several years now and still really enjoy it. It’s based around design, architecture and technology. Each episode dives into the everyday things we don’t often think about and how they came to be. Who knew that plastic was invented because of the game billiards? They are told in a very engaging way and are easy to consume, making them a great listen during lockdown.
You can listen to 99% Invisible on Spotify. Nikolai’s top three episodes are The Accidental Room, The Secret Lives of Color & The Post-Billiards Age.

Who are you isolating with & where?
I’m bundled up with two of my best pals in our flat in Grey Lynn. We spend our days making endless cups of coffee and tea for each other, snacking, and listening to live streams of our favourite artists. Our flat has a big glass roof extension that makes up our kitchen and dining space, where my WFH set-up is located. I love how sunny and happy my space is on blue sky days. It’s safe to say I’ve sported a couple of extra freckles during iso!
What are you currently listening to?
A lil bit vibe a lil bit groove is a Spotify playlist gets my friends and I in the mood for a groove during our Friday WFH office drinks. It’s a mix of house and disco tracks. I’ve also been listening to playlists curated around festivals like Flamingo Pier Waiheke, 121 Festival and Nest Fest to keep the festi-vibes alive.
What do you love about it?
I love how these songs impact my mood and energy. Music is such a powerful mood enhancer and catalyst—certain songs conjure up memories from special moments. I almost feel like I’ve been taking a nostalgic trip down memory lane the past four weeks. Any tune that makes me want to get up for a boogie is a winner in my book.
You can listen to a lil bit vibe a lil bit groove & Flamingo Pier Waiheke on Spotify.

Who are you isolating with & where?
I’m isolating in Parnell with my partner Zigie.
What are you currently listening to?
I’ve been listening to Business Wars on Wondery’s podcast network. I’ve listened to them all, but I just finished The North face vs Patagonia series.
What do you love about it?
Wondery and the Business Wars podcast cover some very well-known brands. They have a fantastic way of portraying the narrative around decision making, pivotal meetings, and industry/competitive pressures.
You can listen to Business Wars on Wondery.
Sales Manager, Grey Lynn: Justine Modgill
Who are you isolating with & where?
I’m isolating with my husband Mike, my three daughters (aged 13, 17 and 19), one dog and two cats in Westmere.
What are you currently listening to?
I’m listening to Marian Keyes latest book Grown Ups on Audible.
What do you love about it?
I haven’t read a Marian Keyes book for years and when I saw it was 17-hours long and narrated by the author herself, I thought it would be perfect to get stuck into while I have time on my hands. It’s a family drama with a rich undertone of secrets and lies, filled with lots of quirky true-to-life characters that are easy to relate to and identify with. There’s also plenty of classic Irish humour thrown in there to keep me entertained. I don’t want it to end!
You can listen to Grown Ups by Marian Keyes on Audible.
